Unitech Crashes Over 50%, Suzlon Sinks 10%
Broader markets came under severe strain on Wednesday with some well-tracked stocks falling by more than 30 per cent in intraday trades. The BSE midcap index traded 1.6 per cent lower, while the small cap sub-index slumped nearly 2 per cent as compared to 1 per cent fall in the benchmark Sensex and Nifty indices.
Most of the companies under pressure are highly leveraged and have been out of favour for the last few years.
Here are some of the biggest losers in the broader BSE 500 universe (in order of volumes)
1) Unitech fell nearly 45 per cent to an intraday low of Rs 6.50.
2) Jaiprakash Associates also slumped 32 per cent to a low of Rs 11.15.
3) Suzlon traded 10 per cent lower, it hit a low of Rs 20.70.
4) Jaiprakash Power Ventures fell around 20 per cent to a low of Rs 5.31.
5) HDIL fell around 15 per cent to a low of Rs 89.20.
6) DLF, India’s biggest realty firm, dropped around 9 per cent to a low of Rs 103.50.
7) GMR Infra: The stock slumped 6 per cent to a low of Rs 12.75
8) Adani Power was down 7 per cent to a low of Rs 33.80.
9) Reliance Power fell nearly 8 per cent to a low of Rs 47.60. Another Anil Ambani-promoted firm Reliance Communications traded 5 per cent lower.
10) Adani Ports and SEZ traded 6 per cent lower at Rs 289
