Shubham Jaglan Upstaged by Anna Kournikova"s Brother, Ends 6th in Pinehurst

Golf prodigy Shubham Jaglan missed a hattrick of junior world golf titles after he finished sixth in the US Kids World Championship in Pinehurst, North Carolina on Sunday. (Shubham Jaglan – India’s Answer to Tiger Woods?)
Played at the Little River Golf Resort, the World Championship is the pinnacle event in the world for juniors ages 5-12. Now in its 16th year, over 1500 players from over 40 countries contest to become the world’s best!
With three birdies and an eagle, the 10-year-old carded a two-under 72 in the third and final round to finish 11 strokes behind tennis queen Anna Kournikova’s brother Allan Kournikova (18 under 198).
Shubham Jaglan was in line for his third big win after clinching the International Junior Golf Academy’s (IJGA) world stars of junior golf tournament in Las Vegas on July 24 and the Junior World Golf Championships crown in San Diego two weeks back. US lad Luke Coyle and Filipino Sean Dominique Granada tied for the second place with identical cards of 9-under 207 while China’s Yang Kuang and Johnnie Clark (US) were tied for fourth with scores of 8-under 208 each.

Shubham Jaglan’s best round was a four-under on the opening day but Kournikova, who proved that sporting prowess runs in the family, held on to his early lead with a 9-under on day 1.
Two more Indian boys – Arjun Bhati and Nihaal Singh Sandhu – finished among the top 100 finishers. While Nihaal was tied 70th with a overall card of 234, Arjun was tied for the 24th spot with 220. (Jaglan Lifts Junior World Golf Championship Title)
Playing under the US flag but of Nepalese origin, Jaivir Pande of Houston finished tied seventh with a final card of 4-under 212. Jaivir is highly rated in the US.
Shubham will be accorded a hero’s welcome in Delhi on Tuesday. A product of the Golf Foundation, the son of a Haryana milkman, Shubham has been a wonder kid.
