Airfare War Takes Off Again: All-Inclusive Rs 1,090 Tickets on Offer
As an airfare war intensifies among the players in the Indian skies, AirAsia India has come up with a promotional scheme offering festive season fares starting from Rs 1,090.
Bookings under the AirAsia offer – valid on travel till February 29, 2016 – can be made till September 20, 2015. The airline is offering an all-inclusive fare of Rs 1,090 – the lowest under the scheme -for journey between Imphal and Guwahati.
The other routes covered under the scheme include Bengaluru-Pune (Rs 1,790), New Delhi-Bengaluru (Rs 3,490), New Delhi-Goa (Rs 3,690) and Pune-Jaipur (Rs 4,090).
Earlier this month, AirAsia had come up with a promotional scheme offering tickets as low as Rs 890 for travel next year.
Airlines have been announcing with slew of offers almost every other week in a bid to garner market share in a fiercely competitive environment.
Jet Airways is offering a 15 per cent discount on base fares for passengers flying on Tuesdays. This promotional offer is valid on economy class travel on select domestic routes. Budget carrier GoAir had earlier announced a similar promotional offer for passengers flying on Tuesdays. The promotional offer, called ‘Happy Tuesdays’, is valid till October 13, 2015.
These promotional schemes by airlines have ensured a spike in the number of people travelling by air. Passengers carried by domestic airlines in the first seven months till July 2015 rose 21 per cent to 455.78 lakh.
