The Indians were reportedly kidnapped from Sirte town near Tripoli on Thursday evening. They were teaching at the university for the last year, said the ministry of external affairs.
“No ransom demand has been made yet. We are trying to ascertain their whereabouts,” said foreign ministry officials.
Sources say the area from where the Indians were kidnapped is under the control of the Islamic State, which has captured large swathes of Iraq and Syria and has declared itself a caliphate.
The Indian government had last year issued an advisory asking its citizens to leave Libya.
39 Indians continue to be missing in Iraq.
